Big industrial project in the works at DFW Airport

Developers who are starting a major industrial park north of Fort Worth are working on plans for an even bigger warehouse project at DFW International Airport.

In July, Dallas’ Gruene Real Estate Partners and Weber & Co. announced that they were partnering to build a 50-acre industrial park in the town of Haslet in Denton County. Their Intermodal Commerce Park will include three industrial buildings with 1.4 million square feet of space.

The Weber-Gruene partnership said the Haslet project is the first of several industrial developments it hopes to build.

This week, a DFW Airport board committee will consider a request from the Weber-Gruene partnership to lease more than 100 acres of airport property for additional construction.

Gruene Real Estate Partners’ founder has experience with building warehouses, industrial parks, office, retail, multifamily and large mixed-use projects.

Since 1990, Weber & Co. has been involved in the development of dozens of Dallas-Fort Worth area retail projects.

The Weber-Gruene DFW project would be the latest in a series of major warehouse developments surrounding the airport. The district around DFW Airport is one of North Texas’ busiest industrial building markets, with more than 4.5 million square feet of warehouse space under construction in the area at midyear.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area is one of the country’s top warehouse building markets with more than 23 million square feet of industrial buildings under construction.
